Inauguration of the Menicon Centre of Excellence at AECIO-MCE (India)

Inauguration of the Menicon Centre of Excellence at Acchutha EyeCare and Institute of Optometry, (AECIO-MCE) Erode, Tamil Nadu, India on 10th April 2022

The inaugural ceremony of Menicon Centre of Excellence at Acchutha Eye Care and Institute of Optometry (AECIO-MCE) was held on the 10th of April 2022, between 6:15 and 8:00 pm IST, at Acchutha Eye Care and Institute. The formal inauguration was followed by a scientific session and dinner.

It was our pleasure and privilege to have Mrs. Jyoti Dave-Singh, Head of Professional Services for India, on behalf of Mr. Kevin Mitchell, Managing Director, Menicon Ltd, UK. Also present was Dr. Anitha Aravind, Head of Advanced Contact Lens Course (ACLC) a “Rose K Certified Course”, which has been running since last 3 years, Mrs. Saranya SB Head of AECIO-MCE, and Dr. Balasubramanium CMO & Chairman of AECIO, Erode.

The inaugural ceremony of AECIO-MCE commenced with the Indian tradition of Lighting of the Lamp by representatives of Menicon Ltd, Prominent ophthalmologists of Erode, and Acchutha Eye Care.

Mrs. Jyoti-Dave Singh inaugurated the ‘Menicon Centre of Excellence’ at AECIO and welcomed the guests to visit the centre. The visit to the AECIO-MCE was followed by a scientific session where Mrs. Jyoti Dave-Singh gave an overview of the MCE and its activities.

During the meeting, she also announced the kind donation of two pairs of lenses by Dr Grant Watters an eminent Contact Lens Specialist of New Zealand to deserving underprivileged patients at AECIO-MCE.

Dr. Anitha Aravind spoke about contact lens fitting in irregular corneal conditions. Following this Dr. Siddharthan, Head of Cornea Services, Sankara Eye Hospital Coimbatore, spoke about the Management of Keratoconus. This was followed by a panel discussion headed by Mrs. Saranya S B. Dr C Balasubramaniam, Chairman of Acchutha Eye Care and Institute delivered the Vote of Thanks.
